Frequently Asked Questions

We understand surgery overseas can be daunting. Rest assured you’re in good hands.

Below is a list of questions our team is commonly asked.

Payment

  • Once you’ve paid a 30% deposit and have secured your surgery date. We recommend paying your outstanding balance as soon as possible so you can receive your surgery itinerary. But if you’re unable to pay straight away - we need it paid latest 30 days before your scheduled surgery date.

  • We ask that you pay 30% of your total invoice.

  • Receipts for payment do not happen automatically. A member of our team waits for the payment to hit banking and then have it feed to our accounting system. Generally this can take 2-4 days once you have sent your payment.

  • We always recommend having a credit card on hand or at least a debit mastercard or visa.

Also make sure you notify your bank you are going overseas. You can do this either via online banking, in branch or calling your bank directly. AMEX doesn’t require this.

  • Only breakfast is included but you can eat like a King in Thailand with some of the best restaurants in the world. Also feel is very affordable.

We do recommend you bring a protein powder and greens powder (any brand) with something like spirulina or wheat grass in it. This is because after surgery clients are generally not hungry and can become quite nauseous

Insurance

Therefore we recommend our partner Global Protective Solutions as a medical insurance. Please review the product disclosure statement before purchasing. Quotes can only be provided within 30 days of surgery date.

Travel & Packing

  • Packing checklist

In the PDF above, is a list of items you may find useful on your journey in Bangkok. Please note you don’t need to buy everything on this list - however we do highly recommend additional wound supplies such as saline and betadine as the climate in Thailand is very humid and warm and can cause rubbing on your wounds. Also, very useful to have extra if you get water on your wounds from the shower etc.

  • You’ll find your travel dates on your invoice. Generally, with both our 14 day and 28 day packages you arrive the day before.

You can arrive into any airport in Bangkok and we will arrange your airport transfer. It doesn’t matter what time you arrive - however, for example you arrive at midnight the day of the package starts you will be charged an additional night by the hotel.

If you have a companion and they are arriving later in your package - their airport transfer is not covered by your package. If you want us to arrange an additional airport transfer with the hotel the price can range from 80 AUD and above. Alternatively, they can use AOT which is an affordable, reliable limousine service in Thailand.

  • Ideally you fly directly into Bangkok. Many clients choose to fly business on the way home if they are having several surgeries.

We don’t have a preference for airlines however, Singapore Airlines, Qantas and Thai Airways are very reliable. We always recommend choosing flexible flight option in case you need to change a date.

  • Some personal medications require a permit upon entry into Bangkok. Please review this website and check the generic name of your medication for advice: Bangkok narcotics

  • Our team can help you in Bangkok to purchase any. However, if you’d like to buy in advance focus on hip measurements. Bras for lift can be a simple padless with a zipper or clip at front. No underwire.

  • Across the street of the Chatrium is a beautiful little inexpensive massage place where you sit in the chairs, even with facelifts and enjoy feet, neck or general massage for 300 baht per hour, which is so little to help you relax and get the draining going of your lymph glands. Zenith Thai Massage. For an additional 50 baht per hour they can come to your room 02.6740430 You can ask your assistant to arrange or walk over there and enjoy.

Wine is expensive in Thailand so once the doctor gives you the go-ahead for drinking which is usually the second week, use this order online to the hotel for superb wine at reasonable prices. https://www.wineconnection.co.th/buy-wine-online.html

Very important to get around is best to use our similar product UBER but it is called Grab. Then you need not worry about explanation, or going wrong place. Everything is transparent and charged to your credit card or cash if you like https://www.grab.com/th/en/taxi/

A further down to the right is a set of vendors who sell food. Chai is wonderful who is one of the first vendors. Does a lovely veggie stir fry which you can add chicken for around 50 baht.

7-11 for ATM’s. You can use your ATM just like you do in your own country. We have safes in your room as well as your hospital. Always take your passport to the hospital and dental clinic for admissions. However, please note this only works for normal debit cards (utilising the savings option on a credit card will not work overseas). Also, please ensure you let your bank know you will be overseas to avoid your account being blocked.

Directly in front of the hotel is a pharmacist where you can get most prescriptions without a doctor’s prescription.

Two minutes from the hotel is a beautiful little French restaurant which I highly recommend. https://www.souffleandme.com/

Asiatique is a new waterfront complex for restaurants and bars which we strongly encourage you all to visit. Ask your assistant to take you. You pay for all personal taxis, but she will accompany you.

Thailand, in general, is very safe. It is overcrowded, but the people are very lovely and easy going. Our hotels are wonderful. We always suggest you do the Avista upgrade in Phuket for a special holiday to complete your journey, but Chatrium is lovely in Bangkok as well. Problem is Avista gets very costly during high season so after Oct 31 through March 31 are the high season with them. Chatrium I have no high season but remember to book ahead for holidays.

Souffle and Me is a fantastic local restaurant about a minute's walk away from The Chatrium

  • Airplanes carry a risk to infection. It is highly recommended to apply betadine and saline. Also for questions regarding your transfer please speak to reception at hotel as they are responsible for transfer home.

  • Yes, we arrange for your airport transfers. On your itinerary you’ll have exact gate instructions and will be greeted by a driver from the hotel you’re staying at.

  • Packages over 30 days require an extended tourist visa

Please ensure you also apply for an extended tourist visa if you will be be in Thailand over 30 days. Apply here:

    https://canberra.thaiembassy.org/toursit-visa-category-tr/

For clients outside Thailand please review your relevant Thai embassy in your home country*

  • As part of your package all hospital and clinic, plus airport transfers are included. This does not include your companion going separately without you though. For getting around Bangkok we recommend the app Grab

Nutrition & Medical Testing

  • You need to stop any medication or supplement (such as fish oil) that can thin the blood. It is best to check with your GP prior to surgery on this.

However, all steroids and immune suppressants must be stopped altogether for 2 weeks prior to surgery.

Birth control and anti depressants can still be taken during this time.

  • To avoid any delays or issues on the day of surgery as Thailand is strict with surgery, we highly recommend you get testing by your GP prior to leaving your home country for surgery - any medical issues found in Bangkok can incur a $2000 USD fee if surgery is delayed on the day (this is rare, but has happened). As part of our process we recommend the following tests:

    • Full blood count - particularly iron for multiple surgeries

    • ECG

    • Liver/Kidney function

    • Thyroid function

    • Blood sugar fasting

We also highly recommend C-reactive protein and vitamin D levels (however these two tests are not mandatory)

  • Testing for your upcoming surgery is valid max of 3 months prior to your scheduled surgery date. Therefore, it is recommended to get tested 3 months before surgery.

  • Post surgery we recommend having a clean protein drink mixed with greens powder (we find many clients are not hungry). Once you gain an appetite we recommend a source of lean protein (chicken, eggs, lean beef etc, yogurt) and greens. Ideally also fruit throughout the day such as pineapple to assist with inflammation. And lots of salads. Avoid soft drink, alcohol and sugar.

  • We recommend the following list.

  • Yes, smoking can cause necrosis of the skin and cause the wound to be become infected. Client’s must stop smoking two months prior to surgery and go on patch if necessary.

  • Ideally no, you should also avoid or limit alcohol two weeks prior to surgery. And avoid drinking during recovery.

Consultation & Day of Surgery

  • Yes, that’s fine. The hospital will take care of it durgery surgery.

  • Yes our team will take you to your consult and hospital. They’ll also be on call for when you need them - however, they are not with you 24/7.

    • RepCloxa (500mg) - antibiotic as Penicillin

    • Clindamycin (150mg/ 300mg)- antibiotic

    • Denzen or Reparil - swelling pill

    • Paracetamol (500mg) - mild pain relief

    • Tramadol - strong pain relief

    • Dramamine (50mg) - vomiting pill

If you have any issues with the above medications, you can speak to your local GP before arriving in Thailand to be given a suitable alternative. Please note you must provide your prescription and a letter from the GP if you are to take any additional pain relief.

  • This is the time for to bring your desired outcome photos. The doctor will explain what he’ll need to do to get you as close as he can to what you want. The doctor will also spend time discussing with you: where he will remove the skin, mark on you where sutures will be, fat removed - (he will circle ) if you have purchased liposuction, implants style and size. It is the client’s responsibility to confirm and agree with the surgeon.

If you wish to add any surgeries during this consultation you are more than welcome to do so. Please contact us and let us know, as we will ensure you are getting the best price. Azurite confirms pricing on all new surgeries as well as refunding surgeries.

  • The morning of your surgery you will check out of the hotel and store your luggage with the concierge. Take your passport and an overnight bag. We have two clinics which one is for Thai’s, and one is for International clients. Sometimes where our team is busy, you will need to go to the Thai clinic. It isn’t very chic so pardon the appearance.

It is only for the doctor to save time as the other one is 1 hour away and we prefer this time for your surgery and not him delayed in traffic. So ignore the clinic’s appearance is it has nothing to do with your outcome of the perfection of operation.

  • If your surgeon says yes to additional surgeries we will have you pay via credit card with the assistance of our team.

After surgery & home

  • Our team monitors your progress daily with photos. So please discuss with our team during your package. We can only do our best to assist when you’re in our care - it’s much harder to help once you’ve gone home and haven’t mentioned it to the surgeon or your assistant. Revision fees once home cost 2000 USD. But please remember perfect results are not guaranteed and individuals must have realistic expectations.

  • Yes, anywhere you’ve received liposuction you must wear a compression garment. The hospital only provides temporary garments. Generally you’ll need to wear for a period of 4-6 weeks. The team in Bangkok can assist you with purchasing.

Please Note: After surgery, the hospital will provide you only with temporary garments, but it is up to the client for post surgery garments: such as bras and liposuction garments. Our temporary Facelift bandages are all you require. It is more for clients that have liposuction need to get a firm garment. You can also wait to purchase at the clinic as well. They can be purchased in Thailand with the help of your Assigned Personal Assistant. Alternatively, another alternative is to buy them via the recommended online store in the link above at makemeheal

  • Our registered nurse and team will assist daily with wound management. However, it’s still the client’s responsibility to ensure good care of their wounds. We recommend bringing Betadine and saline. These products are particularly important if you get water on your wounds.

Silicone tape is recommended once the wounds have for the most part healed and are not raw. Stratamed is also recommended.

  • Cardiovascular workouts can generally be conducted at 6 weeks. And many clients find they can go back to light weights at 8 weeks, please use common sense though and don’t push yourself.

  • During surgery the surgeon will use both dissolvable stitches and none. Majority of stitches will be removed at post consult. However, you may find once you are home that stitches will come to the surface of the wound and cause minor swelling, redness and discomfort. If they are visible, you can pull them out - but only do this once you are home and they are causing discomfort.

  • The Azurite team cannot provide advice when you are out of our care. We advise you consult your personal GP immediately.

  • That’s completely fine. Our team always reviews your medical record and you can also change your medication at any time with the guidance of the surgeon.
